This season, visitors will have a chance to hear featured artists like Daniil Trifonov, Philip Glass and Janine Jansen. Now on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination examines the fascinating history of fashion in the Roman Catholic Church. A collection of papal robes and accessories from the Sistine Chapel sacristry, many of which have never been seen outside The Vatican, serves as the exhibit’s centerpiece. Other galleries include fashions inspired by the Byzantium period, sculptures and alterpieces devoted to the cult of the Virgin Mary, and vetements inspired by the cults of saints and angels. Banzarbar is an intimate 20-seat cocktail bar tucked away at the end of Freemans Alley in the Lower East Side, though the journey to find it is not quite as daunting as the voyages that inspired its adventurous libations. The bar’s unique concept is based on the Antarctic expeditions of the British Australian New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE) in the 1930s. The menu features a-la-carte options as well as a special five-course tasting menu focused on low-ABV cocktails, accompanied by seafood appetizers.

On exhibition at the New-York Historical Society’s Museum & Library is Celebrating Bill Cunningham, a tribute to the life and work of the legendary New York Times journalist and photographer. Perhaps no one else captured the fashions of New York more memorably than Cunningham, who could frequently be seen on city streets, at fashion shows, and at exclusive parties cataloging the latest and greatest trends, always donning his signature blue jacket. On display is a selection from Facades, his eight-year project chronicling New York City’s architectural and fashion history, photographs documenting his friendship with floral designer Toni “Suzette” Cimino, as well as his camera, one of his bicycles, and of course his famous jacket.

Pick up a pick-me-up. Locally crafted Pure Green cold-pressed juices like the Golden Girl (carrot, pineapple, lemon, ginger) are now available in our in-room Provisions Cabinets. Unlike centrifugal juicers and tradtional pasteurization, a hydraulic press extracts juice from fresh fruits and vegetables without added heat or oxygen so that live enzymes, vitamins, and minerals are preserved. This results in fresh, nutrient-rich juice that delivers sustained energy to help you keep up with the city that never sleeps.
